Ruler update and another thing to try

I was reading on another blog that Judy from Sew Fun Quilts uses rubber fingers that you can buy from the stationary stores to quilt with. I mailed her two boxes as I can get them pretty cheap through work. Hopefully she gets them soon. Sending to the States takes forever!!! Okay - it takes 2-3 weeks, but it feels like forever.

Any how, I got myself my own box of rubber fingers too! I hope to try them out either this week - or by the latest - at me Quilting class this coming Saturday. I'll let you know how they work. Its gloves vs the fingers!
Let the battle begin - who will win - I do not know, oh the suspense!! ha ha ha

As promised as well - I said I would report on my new ruler.

Here are my thoughts:
  • My blade is not any sharper then when I started. In fact, I have to get a new one now there is no way around it. I do not believe the ruler made it any duller and perhaps it was just too dull to save? Not sure - I am interested to see if it can keep a new blade sharp.
  • The is the absolutely best ruler I have ever used for non slip! Its amazing - it never slides around on my. All my other fancy "non-slip" rulers are always moving on me and ruining my cuts. I find my wrists so sore after using them, but with this one - it stays right where I want it without having to use my entire body weight to keep it there.

  • SO- My final assessment is - for the price, it was only 20 bucks, this is the best ruler I own even if I never use the sharpening side for my rotary cutter blade. I paid almost 40 dollars for my fancy non slip ruler - same size with bright green numbers and I hate how it slides around. I am going to say this was a good investment and perhaps they should forget the sharpening aspect and just market as it being the best non-slip and it really is!
I will let you know about the rubber fingers after I complete the battle for the best grip! hee hee

If you have not entered my pattern and fabric give away - you till have time - please click here to go to the give away post and enter!!

Carolyn

  1. Try sharpening your rotary cutter with a foil.
