Package in the mail!

The other day I got the best package from Tiffany from PinkSweetTreats blog. Check out all my new goodies!
Lets take a closer look at these awesome buttons shall we!

You can oh and ah now!
She even sent me these wicked scrubbies!
 And a cool fat eighth
 And a zipper pull.
I was so over joyed that I did my best to put together a package = in value.
Here is what I am sending back to Tiffany:

Since she sent me the beaded zipper pull, I was excited to be able to pull out my packed full container of beads - another passion of mine!
I am also sending this super cute tiara that I had originally made for my flower girl - it was never used and this is its first time on a head. There  are loops on the ends to use bobby pins if you want to hook in place.
Tiffany - I know you have a boy, and a girl, so I am hoping your girl can play with this?
I also sent some super cute bracelets. My wrist is scrawny so they will fit you or your daughter.
There are more beads in there. Hopefully she can put it all to good use. I know she did great things with the fabric she won from me.
Cheers,
Carolyn

Look at it now

Remember what my living room and kitchen looked like last week?

Or how about, what it used to look like?

Well, Look at it now!

OK, It is still messy, but can you see how open and fabulous it is! I got Mr. Hunter to cut down my table. I really liked having the huge table, but it was so big it stuck out into the area of people coming in from the front door. I am (was just informed last night!) getting a new proper sewing table for my new room in the basement. That room is going to be the last finished because it opens into the mechanical room, but it's still exciting to think about.
Do you notice the fridge in the living room?? Its temporary and now the beer is even closer! ha ha
I waved good bye to my old appliances as the nice men from Trail Appliance took them away.
Good bye 1970's Magic Chef!! Good Bye!
 HELLO NEW APPLIANCES!!

Cheers,
Carolyn

Buttonmad is the name of it and they are from South Africa. They make the most amazing buttons! Through Julie's blog, they have links to their Canadian, USA and Italy site. I haven't a clue what their minimum order is or even the costs. But you know my love of buttons! I have already sent an email request to Julie with all of these questions. I will let you know what I find out.

When Life takes your sewing maching - make Hexis!

The house renos are helping me find the time to create some fun hexis.
Here are just some of them I have put together. These are for my table runner pattern.
Its quite relaxing actually. When the dust was really flying yesterday, Lucky and I sat on the step outside - him in his beddie chewing on a ball, me making hexis - till we got too cold and then we had to come in and put up with the dust.

Carolyn

My house is becoming my nightmare

I will let the pictures speak for themselves:
Kitchen looking into living room

The three open walls I have to navigate through to get back and forth through the kitchen/living room.

The master bedroom

Master bedroom

Why yes, this is mew sewing table

From between the walls, looking into the kitchen

Floor picture from the old entry into the kitchen. On the kitchen floor is two layers of tile, one layer of lino and then a sub floor all laid on top of what appears to be original hardwood.

Living room
Isn't it funny how Lucky is in every shot? He is so adorable and he just follows me every where. All these pictures, you probably think the basement must be done? No, its not, it looks like a dumping zone/storage clutter area.
I know Mr Hunter said he had to take out the wall so he could figure out all the electrical before he sealed the basement ceiling, I just hope this goes quickly!
Wish me luck.

Carolyn

My star block for Let's Bee Together

Its been a rough go trying to get things done, but I finally have completed my star block for the Let's Bee Together group. For reasons which I will show you in tomorrows post - its been hard to get to the sewing machine and keep my fabric clean/dust free.
I was done my star actually a couple of days ago, but I just could not leave it alone. I had it in my head that I really wanted to do something with kites. Why? I dunno, I think its the individual shapes that make up the star, they reminded me of my childhood.
Here is just the star:
Here is the making of my "kite"
 And the final product:
Close up of my kite flier:
A little closer shot of my "kite":
Tiffany, I hope you like your block and I am sorry it is coming to you so late!

Carolyn

A lot of quality control goes into what I do

As you can see, every stitch is thoroughly checked and before any item leaves the house, it is again checked for quality control.

With this many quality checks, it feels good to know nothing is going unchecked. I often question just how I get anything done, but again, at least it is being checked for quality and I really like the people I work with. Both quality controllers are cutely and are quick to give a purr or tail wag when I have done a good job - as well I know that if Tika does not like the stitches, he will try to pull them out.
ha ha ha

Attack of the muppets!

I was getting dressed the other day in my normal attire - gotchies, tights, socks, pants - but in the process, I had put my slippers on as the house is a little chilly and 100% dirty from renos. I looked down and Oh My, I look like a Muppet. I thought it was funny, and even snorted with glee as I grabbed the camera to show you how silly I look apparently every day!

I had to pick up all this confetti that Mr. Hunter dumped all over my sewing table and floor. It made me think of those Sesame Street episodes when they have a birthday and spew confetti everywhere. It really completed my Muppet look.
Any one else had a silly snort at yourself moment lately?
Cheers,
Carolyn

Another awesome fabric store to check out - and the winner to my give away!

I know you probably want to know who won the give away - but first, let me tell you about this amazingly awesome fabric store my friend Anna got me onto. I had never even heard of them, and as soon as I got to the site - it was love. Anna has a great blog too, its called Quiltmom's Journey, she is from Edmonton just like me.
The fabric site is called Connecting Threads and their prices are amazing. I received confirmation of shipping the very next morning after the evening I ordered which is great. Check out this super cool fabric line they have!
Its called Around Town and comes in Noon or Night. I ordered both.
Here is one print from each color - to see the entire line, check out Connecting Threads site. They also have a kick butt collection of batiks and several more cool things I had in my cart before disciplining myself to just choose one line. I did just order from Wish Upon a Quilt the day before this order so I had to be a little bit good. I can be bad next month!

I did however order a new rotary cutter and some more rulers as Connecting Threads has a 40% off sale on them. Anna, thank you again for this awesome new online store!

Now on to the winner!
