Wonderful Surprise

I made last weekend at the quilting retreat that I showed images for on Wednesday, a thread play demo of a tulip. I showed the project to Mr. Hunter and look what he surprised me with the other day!

Here are my beautiful flowers with my thread play demo - perfect match!!
Here is a picture of the demo I made for the reverse applique with fancy stitching:
It looks better in real life, the colors are much more vibrant, but it still looks pretty neat I think. I think it would make a cool bag or pillow. What do you think?

Graffiti Thursday

More newer pictures, summer is on its way and the wall is changing faster and faster. There are some really good artists in Edmonton right now.
This piece was destroyed after being up for about a month untouched. Below is what was done - shame, I never got a decent picture of the original. One thing I noticed however is the care of the red paint added. Although it ruined the beautiful portrait, the person took the time to carefully add. Unlike the few people whom just cross things out - or there is one jackass whom likes to write the word dirt over the really good stuff.

I caught this one in progress. The next picture shows another little monsters poking out of the grouping.

Here is another one in progress, the finished piece is below.  Its neat how they build up the image and how it evolves.

Carolyn

Back to Back Quilting Retreat Heaven

The last two weekends I had the pleasure of going to quilting retreats out at Seba Beach. Both weekends although a bit different, the first I just attended, the second I directed and taught at - they were each great.
Here are some pictures (I took pictures of both retreats but my camera and I are apparently on outs right now as about a 1/4 of the photos I uploaded I cannot view or do anything with - very frustrating and I do not know why it is happening - but my first weekend retreat photos I cannot access):
Shirley and her paper foundation project.

My workspace - these squares are going to become a diamond ring quilt which I am donating to my home town library to auction off so they can buy books. More pics of this to come.

Lori and what she calls her ugly quilt, which is actually really awesome.

Wanda with her project - I did a demo/class on a reverse applique and fancy stitching.

Monika with her project.
Barb with one of her finishes for the weekend.

Lori with her finished quilt top for the weekend.

Shirley organizing her blocks.

This is Gwen's project - I think it was called a quilt and go quilt?

Lynn with her project.

Linda with her project.

Brenda working on a cool tree pattern.

Vicky with her finished quilt top for the weekend.

Bev with her finished projects for the weekend.

Wendy with her finish for the weekend - she completed her carry all quilting tools bag.
I missed some great photo ops as well - Bobby whom I did not get a photo of made a great project for the class I taught but she also worked on two other great projects - one was a quilt top that used of those fancy rulers to cut out twisted blocks - the other was another quilt and go quilt - different from Gwen's, it was almost like paper foundation, and the pattern was these beautiful tulips. I am kicking myself for not getting more photos. There were some other beautiful quilts and projects being made by my friends Norma, Carole, Lynn, Sue and my new acquaintance - another Carolyn!
I hope your past two weekends were as great as mine.
Cheers,
Carolyn

Awesome present in the mail just for me =)

I received a while ago and got so busy (I must confess, I write my graffiti posts in advance so I do not mix up my photos) that I have not posted in a month and I had wonderful images to share! Images of awesome socks I got in the mail courtesy of my good friend Christina from Nuclear Knits whom is an amazing knitter.
Just check out these amazing socks!! (Be glad you do not have to work with me as I took my ankle boots off all day for each pair I got to put my feet in my co-workers faces to check these beauties out!)

Sock Heaven! Aren't they beautiful!!
Thanks Christina for my awesome socks!

These are newer - I think I took all of these from this year or close to.

Graffiti Thursday

These are all from last year.

This one was so funny / awesome - it was election time in Alberta and the Wildrose Party did a bus cover and put the wheels of the bus right where Danielle Smith's chest would be. Very poor planning, it seemed every media channel caught it and it was quite the source of many silly jokes. The Wildrose party are also very determined to privatize the health care here among many other bad ideas. This was one artists commentary on the whole thing. Very enjoyable. As you can see if you blow this picture up, Danielle is using her evil laser eyes to destroy the hospital.
